Als Synangium (nach altgriechisch σύν β€žzusammenβ€œ und άγγΡίον β€žGefΓ€ΓŸβ€œ, β€žBehΓ€ltnisβ€œ)cite-ref-lehmann-2014-1-0[1] wird in der Botanik und PalΓ€obotanik eine Gruppe miteinander verwachsener Sporangien bezeichnet. Sie kommen besonders bei den Farnen vor, etwa bei den Marattiaceae,cite-ref-murdock-2008-2-0[2] oder den GabelblattgewΓ€chsencite-ref-smith-et-al-2006-3-0[3] aber auch bei fossilen Samenfarnen wie den Medullosales.cite-ref-pacyna-zdebska-2010-4-0[4]

Der Begriff steht im Gegensatz zu einzeln stehenden Sporangien und zum Sorus, bei dem die Sporangien zwar in Gruppen angeordnet, aber nicht miteinander verschmolzen sind.cite-ref-ingrouille-1992-5-0[5]
